Jana was born March 27, 1953 in Gastonia, NC, the daughter of the late William Lee Absher and Merkie Shiflet Absher. Jana attended the first graduating class of Ashbrook High in Gastonia. Jana always stated that being a marrow match and donating was, besides being a proud mother of two children, a great achievement in her life. She was also most happy in the company of the many cats and dogs that were in her life, most of whom were rescued.
