Mrs. Barbara West Spivey, 79, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 peacefully at her home. She was born on August 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Vance and Gladys Hall West. She retired from Cumberland County Schools after 30 years of service. Barbara was an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Presbyterian Women, Circle #5 and the Leighton McKeithen Sunday School Class. She was honored to receive a Distinguished Lifetime Membership from the Women of the Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years Ralph Spivey of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Melissa Spivey of Greensboro; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Paul Phillips of Lillington; 4 grandchildren, Will and Carter Spivey, Ben and Ryleigh Phillips; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sandra West of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Ann Patterson of Roseboro.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville with Rev. Chip Stapleton and Rev. Bobby Newman officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church, 111 Highland Ave. , Fayetteville, NC 28305.
