Neill Kenneth Boyd

Neill Kenneth Boyd, 29, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home. Neill was born November 17, 1988 in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Buies Creek in December 1989. Neill attended elementary and middle school in Harnett County and graduated from Cape Fear Christian School in 2007. He acquired a love for the NC mountains early in his life beginning with visiting his older brother and sisters during their summer employment at Teen Valley Ranch in Plumtree, NC. As early as possible, Neill followed other siblings by working at the Christian camp. After graduating from high school, he moved to Banner Elk and lived most of his years after graduation in the mountains. Neill enjoyed art, music, cooking and building things.

Funeral service will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Clarence Hardison, Rev. Terry Beatty, and Rev. Dan Jarmon officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery, 2264 Hwy. US 421 N., Lillington. The family will receive friends following the service at Rawls Baptist Church, 10665 Hwy. US 401 N, Fuquay-Varina. In honor of Neill’s preferred dress of blue jeans and flannel shirts, the family encourages casual dress. Carhartt’s, blue jeans, flannels, tie dye, tennis shoes, Chacos, etc. are Neill’s Casual.

Neill is survived by his parents Jim and Susan Auer Boyd of Buies Creek. Sisters, Jessica Green (Carl) of Wake Forest; Sharon Taunton (Kyle) of Goose Creek, SC; brothers Brian Boyd (Barbara) of Wilmington; Kevin Boyd(Sharon) of Duncan. 9 nieces and nephews: Noah, Sean, Laila, Kye, Laurel, Grady, Kaleigh, Teague and Paityn.

Neill found Belle, his beloved dog, on a hiking trail badly mauled by a mountain lion and amazingly nursed the gentle soul back to life. They were inseparable.

We find comfort and peace that Neill understood and believed in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during a Franklin Graham rally as a child. Because of Christ we are not alone in our suffering and have the assurance we will be with Neill in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Teen Valley Ranch, P.O. Box 10, Plumtree, NC 28664 or to The Franklin Graham Ministries, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201 or to a charity of your choice.
