James Carlton "J.C."  Currin



Mr. James Carlton “J.C.” Currin, 89, of Lillington passed away Monday, August 14, 2017. Carlton was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for the NCDOT as a heavy equipment operator and retired after 42 years of service. Carlton also worked with his brother, Elijah, operating heavy equipment. He enjoyed woodworking, his pets and helping other people. Carlton loved spending time with family especially the grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Azalee Currin; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Carlton is survived by daughter, Janet Currin Thomas and husband, Edwin of Lillington; son, James Mark Currin and wife, Renee of Lillington, 5 grandchildren, Brian Thomas and wife Morgan, Jonathan Butler and wife Justice, Kelli Worrell and husband Robert, Matt Currin and Josh Currin; 4 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Butler, Kenley and Averie Worrell and Marlee Grace Thomas expected August 2017; 2 sisters, Mabel McNeill and Doris Hodge both of Broadway; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Deaton, Rev. Robbie O’Quinn and Rev. Douglas Currin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 3:00-3:50 PM and other times at the home.
