Ann Smith Funderburk



Mrs. Ann Smith Funderburk, 77, of Lillington passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Ann was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Edgar Soloman and Estelle Byrd Smith. She was a graduate of Lillington High School and Hank Hannah Beauty School. Ann was the owner of Ann’s Coiffures and was a hairdresser for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning and freezing the fruits of her labor. Ann loved animals especially her Boston Terriers. Ann loved fashion as evidenced in her extensive wardrobe and collection of shoes. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her four-month old great-grandson, Levi. Ann was a member of Flat Branch Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Funderburk of Lillington; brothers, Edgar Theodore Smith and wife Marie of Lillington, William Harold Smith and wife Monteen of Newport News, VA and John Gerald Smith and wife Ola of Fuquay-Varina.

Ann is survived by 2 daughters, Anita Howington Wilson of Aberdeen and Holly Leigh Howington of Reidsville; 2 grandchildren, Megan Fields Martin and husband William of Reidsville and Robert Phillip Fields of Reidsville; great-grandson, Levi Roy Martin; 2 step-daughters, Cheryl Funderburk Morris of Sanford and Shelia Funderburk of Sanford.

A memorial service will be held at Noon Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Flat Branch Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. Michael Armistead and Rev. Bert Pitchford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall Saturday from 11:00 AM until 11:50 AM and other times at Ann’s home.
