Ronald "Ron" Martin



Mr. Ronald “Ron” Lee Martin, 74, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017. He was born in New Castle, PA, the son of the late James Winter and Edith Sarah Cameron Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Jean Martin and daughter, Cheryl Lee. Ron worked in the “Steel Valley” in Youngstown, OH for many years. Ron lived and worked in Campbell, OH and was very active in the community with Pee Wee Football and Babe Ruth Baseball. In 1986, he moved to North Carolina and worked for numerous mills before finding a home with NCDOT. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ron was very proud of his grandchildren’s accomplishments.

Ron is survived by his son, Randy Martin and wife Rebecca of Angier; daughter, Michelle Hughes and husband Jesse of Broadway; son, Timothy M. Martin, Sr. MPA and wife Daryn of New Bern; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Sean, Savannah, Erica, Jackson and Timothy Jr. (Trey); 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Audra Jeanne Coulter of Pleasantville, PA; brother-in-law, Barney Coulter of Pleasantville, PA.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 26, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamers with Rev. Dan Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Monday from 10:00-10:45 AM and other times at the home of Michelle and Jesse Hughes.
