Mr. Rodney E. Farmer, 54, of Sanford passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late John G. Farmer and Della King Farmer. Rodney owned and operated Rodney Farmer Professional Land Surveying for many years. He apprenticed his trade under his beloved grandfather, the late Moses Farmer. He was an avid race fan who loved driving hot rods. Rodney loved fishing, hunting, reading Louis Lamour books and watching westerns. He loved spending his free time in Duplin County. Rodney loved his family and helping others who were less fortunate. He was a proud father, grandfather and uncle. Rodney was a “Simple Man” who enjoyed life.

Rodney is survived by his son, Sean Farmer and wife, Lydia of Sanford; daughter, Jessica Woodham and husband, Jonathan of Holly Springs; 4 grandchildren, Naaman, Caroline, Nolan and Novie; mother, Della King Farmer of Broadway; brothers, Robert Farmer of Sanford, Randall Farmer of Broadway; sisters, Rhonda Malone and husband, Don of Winston-Salem, Laura Farmer of Broadway; brothers, Moses Farmer and wife, Melanie of Lillington and Laurance Farmer and wife, Traci of New Bern; nieces and nephews, Kendra, Katie, Dale, Ashlee, Gavin, MacKinley, Madison and Angelina. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Addison Malone.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 385 Holly Springs Church Rd., Broadway, NC 27505 with Rev. Scott Yow officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall Tuesday from 1:00-3:00 PM and other times at the home of Sean and Lydia Farmer. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
